Job Responsibilities
Provide office-based general surgery services to both new and established patients of all ages.
Conduct initial consultations for common general surgery concerns.
Perform minor procedures.
Educate and counsel patients and their families on surgical procedures and post-operative care.
Order diagnostic tests as necessary.
Refer patients to related specialties within the hospital system or tertiary care centers when appropriate.
Communicate effectively with primary care physicians regarding patient care plans.
Utilize the support of a medical assistant for clinical tasks.
Operative Procedures:
Perform both open and laparoscopic surgical procedures.
Conduct endoscopic procedures as needed.
Diagnoses and Conditions:
Address a broad range of diagnoses commonly encountered in a rural, community setting, including but not limited to:
Hernias (inguinal and umbilical)
GERD and related symptoms
Rectal bleeding
Gallbladder disease
Colon polyps or screening for colon cancer
Hemorrhoids
Sebaceous cyst
Dysphagia
Breast conditions
Diverticulitis
Skin lesions (including cancers)
Qualifications
Board certification in General Surgery.
Native or bilingual proficiency in English.
Preferably 2-5 years of prior experience in general surgery and endoscopy.
Comfortable with the rural nature of practice/hospital.
Ability to work collaboratively in a small hospital setting with limited general surgery colleagues.
Willingness to provide a broad scope of surgical services typical of a rural, community surgeon.
Ability to adapt and expand clinical services to complement the existing surgical team.

Friday: Office (half day) or off*
On-call coverage approximately 10 days per month, including one weekend per month.
Appointment durations vary (15 minutes for established patients, 30 minutes for new patients, 30 to 45 minutes for office-based procedures).
