Houston, Texas – Medical Director Pediatrics
- Candidates will need to have a minimum of 2 years’ experience managing physicians and an additional 5 years’ experience clinical for a preferred minimum of 7 years’ experience.
- They will be responsible for still seeing patients a couple of times a week and the rest administrative/budgetary time.
Some of the Essential Functions:
- Directly oversee the growth and sustainability of the Pediatric Service Line.
- Educate Clinical Medical Directors on expectations of providers in your discipline; monitor and support providers to improve in their clinical practice
- Set standards of care/protocols on the management of common conditions
- Provide evidence-based guidelines and decision support tools to aid providers in care
- Represent your discipline in the budget process
- Recruit providers and oversee onboarding into your discipline for the organization
- Oversee monthly service line meeting for your discipline
- Investigate and propose pilot testing of new initiatives and models of care
- Oversee quarterly Peer Chart Review process, Ongoing Monitoring and Performance Improvement Plans
- Ensure ongoing educational activities support providers up-to-date care practices
- Collaborations with academicians in your specialty
- Manages and designates On Call Schedule for emergency calls after hours
- Develop strategies that manage transitions of care for our patients
- Serve as link with discipline specific educational and training programs to establish and strengthen opportunities for teaching at our sites within our department
- Advise Clinical Medical Directors and operational site directors on implementing improvement strategies in discipline specific processes
- Work with Grants team to identify opportunities and assist with implementation of new projects
- Work with other service line directors to establish and support a collaborative interdisciplinary model of care
- Prepare department for clinical audits and ensure that clinical practice is aligned with audit requirements
- Work with legacy leadership to identify, train and update providers in value-based care.
- Work on research projects in collaboration with the research team/pharmaceuticals.
