This is a 25 bed Critical Access hospital, where you will work alongside a 50 member medical group with approx. 20 doctors practicing full time. The hospital recently celebrated a number of employees hitting their 40th work anniversary with the system.

Seeking a full-time (4.0 or 4.5 days/week) board certified neurologist to join a highly productive, skilled, and popular neurologist at AVH and selected outreach clinic sites to help meet clinical demands for services and build a neurology service for North Country Healthcare (system of 3 Critical Access Hospitals).

Provides office-based general neurology services to new and established patients (adolescents age 16 and older as well as adults), including medication management, education and counseling of patients and families, ordering diagnostic tests, referral to related other specialties (e.g., cardiology, orthopedics, pain management, pulmonology, sleep medicine) locally, referral to subspecialty neurologists at tertiary care centers, and communication with PCP’s.

Migraine
Memory loss
Essential tremor
Parkinson’s disease
Cognitive impairment
Dizziness
Epilepsy
Multiple sclerosis
Polyneuropathy
Headache

Partners with other members of neurology team (e.g., neurologist colleague, radiologist, EEG technologists, MA’s and RN’s, physical therapists).

Additional job information
* EMR: Meditech Expanse
* Appointment durations would begin at 40-60 minutes to allow for orientation to Afacility and its EMR. At an appropriate time (usually 2-4 weeks), appointment durations would be reduced to match standards for facility neurologists, i.e., 20 minutes for established patients and 60 minutes for new patients.
* Typical productivity (based on usual mix of new and established patients) will be 12 to 16 patients per day. In general, 2 to 4 new patients per day.
* Time for interpretation of diagnostic tests (e.g., EEG) is provided. However, administrative time is generally not provided at the specialty practice.
* Locations of care/schedule (specific days of week to be determined by facility at time of negotiation of physician employment agreement or commencement of employment, based on available space and operational needs at each site). 3 days in one location, 1 day in an outreach site about 1 hour away

Qualifications

Experience required:
* Prefer candidates have prior experience (at least 2-5 years) in broad spectrum of general neurology.
* Selected new graduates from residency or fellowship training may be eligible.
* Prior experience in a small hospital or CAH desired.
* Must be comfortable with rural nature of practice/hospital, only one neurology colleague, solo coverage, and facility's complement of specialists and diagnostic testing capacity.
* Special clinical interests/expertise to complement those of current neurologist and expand scope of services to our region. For example, clinical interests/expertise in one or more of the following: headaches, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, extrapyramidal syndrome, stroke, epilepsy, dementia, and EEG’s.
* Ability to interpret EEG studies desirable but not required.
* Does not need ability to perform or interpret NCS/EMG studies. Based on current provider's expertise in this area and capacity to perform and interpret more NCS/EMG’s as ordered by a second neurologist,
* Ability to perform Botox injections desirable but not required.
* Team oriented, collaborative, and patient focused. High level of customer service (patient satisfaction) is expected.
* H1-B and J-1 visa candidates will be considered if excellent communication skills.
