Epileptologist Needed for Connecticut health system
- This NAEC Level IV Epilepsy Center is seeking a fellowship trained BC/BE Epileptologist.
- They have a collaborative and inclusive model of care, offering personalized, coordinated care with excellent patient experience and proven track record of quality and safety.
- Their center has all the specialized diagnostic and treatment tools needed to help people with seizures get more out of life.
- Duties will include outpatient care for people with seizures, as well as interpretation of routine EEGs, EMU, LTM and intracranial EEG services. Additional interests in education, research or quality are encouraged.
About the Epilepsy Center:
- The Epilepsy Center Neuroscience Institute’s approach to care is a supportive, multidisciplinary care model. Their team includes 10 epileptologists and 3 epilepsy trained neurosurgeons. Their care model is strengthened by a group of outstanding advanced practice providers. The behavioral health of their patients is attended to in collaboration with their social worker and psychiatrist.
- They are a warm and welcoming group of people with a very collaborative mindset. They enjoy a private practice approach in the clinic balanced by an academic program structure. The UConn neurology residents inpatient training occurs predominantly at Hospital and the program director is one of their epileptologists. As epilepsy specialists they meet regularly to discuss complex cases, review EEGs, discuss journal articles, and share ideas.
The Epilepsy Center offers:

- A Level 4 Epilepsy Center accredited by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC)
- A full range of EEG types, 3T MRI, functional MRI, quantitative SPECT and PET, Wada test, and epilepsy focused neuropsychological evaluations
- A state of the art Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) in an ABRET accredited EEG lab staffed with registered EEG technologists.
- Intracranial EEG monitoring, paired with sophisticated brain reconstruction software for exquisite electrode localization and seizure interpretation.
- State of the art surgical treatments including deep brain stimulation (DBS), responsive neurostimulation (RNS), vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) and laser ablation.
