Responsibilities:
This role involves a wide range of clinical responsibilities including clinic services, deliveries, lab work, X-ray, suturing, ultrasound, cesarean sections, pharmacy services, EKG, gynecology, emergency room coverage, minor and major surgeries, local block/IV, and epidural or general anesthesia procedures.
The facility offers on-site and referred services across various specialties including behavioral health, dental, pediatrics, emergency, rheumatology, OBGYN, dermatology, psychiatry, endocrinology, podiatry, urology, and others. Referrals are typically sent to Fort Defiance, Chinle, Gallup, Albuquerque, Phoenix, or Flagstaff.
About the Facility and Surrounding Area:
This hospital serves the Navajo Nation and surrounding community. It acts as the sole provider of care for the Navajo Nation chapters and communities south of Route 26 (Cornfields, Steamboat, etc.). The Navajo Nation is an area that is approximately the size of West Virginia, with a population of approximately 173,000 people living on the reservation itself. There are significant health disparities on the Reservation, with an estimated 30% of people without access to clean water, 30% without electricity, and 40% or more unemployment prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The hospital is within a few hours’ drive of many national and state parks, including Canyon de Chelly, Monument Valley, Grand Canyon, Petrified National Forest, Arches NP, Canyonlands NP, Zion NP, and Bryce NP. It is also with a few hours’ drive of scenic Sedona, ski resorts in Telluride and Taos, and cities such as Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Flagstaff, and Phoenix.

Job Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive physical examinations for adults and children
Participate in quality improvement/patient safety projects
Communicate with collaborating physicians or specialists regarding patient care
Qualifications
Active Family Medicine board certification
Comfortable working with limited resources and support staff, demonstrating resilience and adaptability.
ACLS, BLS, PALS
Active, unrestricted Arizona state license and DEA
Not had a lapse in practice > 6 months leading up to assignment
Working Hours
