This regional medical center in Valdosta, GA is seeking a board certified/board eligible Wound Care physician to serve as medical director of our Wound Care service line.
The Medical Center is the most comprehensive health system serving South Georgia and North Florida. It operates four hospitals across Lowndes, Berrien, and Lanier counties. The system also operates ambulance services, an extensive medical office network, a cancer center, hospice facility, retirement center, skilled nursing facility, imaging centers and urgent cares. Service lines of regional prominence include heart and vascular, stroke, trauma, cancer, orthopedics, surgery, and women and infants.
Position Description:
- Full-time position
- Monday – Friday, 8-5pm
- Hospital based employment

- Provide clinical assessment, evaluation and on-site treatment of all wounds (per Clinical Practice Guidelines)
- Provide clear and standardized documentation for each patient
- Develop personalized action plan for each patient, discuss with Treatment Nurse
- Notify facility staff of potential schedule delays, provide as much advance notice as possible
- Write individual physician orders, if required by facility
- Support Treatment Nurse and appropriate facility staff with education, training and mentorship
- Comply with all hospital bylaws, rules and regulations, and policies.
Qualifications:
- Board eligible/certified in American Board of Surgery
- Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Georgia
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively within an inter-disciplinary team and with referring physicians to provide high quality patient care
- Passionate about quality, service excellence, safety, process improvement, program development and team building. Experience with the EPIC electronic medical record is a significant plus.
- Possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to create a positive and productive environment that promotes collegiality and innovation in all settings
