Sentara Medical Group is seeking a seasoned, passionate Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to provide direct leadership to the clinical operations of our urgent care centers. The CMO will be a pioneer in the strategic development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the ongoing efficiency of the healthcare system. The CMO is directly responsible for medical education, quality assurance, patient safety, and risk management. They will work as part of a forward-thinking leadership team in the development of the organization’s vision, growth plan, and quality agenda.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Implementation of policies and procedures
  • Provides leadership, strategy, and vision to ensure clinical model addresses patient needs
  • Performs continuous quality improvement
  • Ensures proper usage of EMR, billing, and administrative systems
  • Responsible for alignment of Provider and clinical staff patient care and quality measures
  • Identifies opportunities to collaborate and develop clinical integration opportunities with other health delivery systems to achieve affordable outcomes
  • Creates and enforces clinical guidelines that make healthcare delivery run more smoothly
  • Participates as part of the Physician On-Call Rotation for clinical support
Education and Requirements:
  • 10+ years clinical experience with five years of experience working in a supervisory position managing direct reports
  • Board certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine
  • Experience with clinical risk management and safety protocols
  • Urgent Care experience preferred
