**Cardiothoracic Surgeon opening in Cedar Rapids/Waterloo, Iowa** **Details:** - FT, permanent opening - The cardiothoracic surgery team also has expertise in surgical oncology (cancer surgery). They work together with oncologists at the Cancer Center and Radiation Center to provide comprehensive treatment for those facing lung cancer. Treatment for lung cancer often involves a combination of surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, depending on each patient s situation. - Hospital is a 204-bed, community hospital serving the Cedar Valley. It is the busiest hospital in the Cedar Valley. We care for more inpatients, outpatients, emergency patients and cardiac patients than any other hospital in our 10-county service area. Offer outpatient care in facilities that are built for your comfort and convenience. - The heart and vascular center opened in 2009 to centralize all heart care in one facility and is specifically designed for heart patients and their families. Along with the physicians at the Cardiovascular Center, the Hospital is often recognized as one of the top heart care programs in the nation. - We offer evaluation and intervention for lung nodules at the Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery Clinic. **Position overview:** - Full time position split 50/50 between Cedar Rapids and Waterloo - Cedar Rapids and Waterloo teams each have 1 full time physician and 3 Advanced Practitioners - Clinic Monday - Friday; Half days - Support of APPs with first assist in OR, rounding on post-operative patients, and clinic post-hospitalizations. - Fully integrated system with clinics and hospitals on EPIC EMR to improve care coordination. Responsibilities - Average of 5-6 patients per week in clinic and 4-5 surgeries per week. - 24-hour Call requirement of 7 days per month; additional days are extra pay - Schedule split 85% hospital and 15% clinic; Clinic time is seeing new patients and TAVR patient in conjunction with our Cardiology Clinic - Ability to work as a team member to improve the health of the people and communities we serve. - Patient-focused, friendly, and willing to collaborate in a team environment. - Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical and problem-solving skills.
