Eastern Iowa Facility | Cardiothoracic Surgeon Locums Job | Inpatient Coverage with Light Clinic for 1-2 Weeks per Month Starting November
Jackson + Coker is working with a facility in eastern Iowa that is in need of Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery locum tenens coverage starting in November 2024 & ongoing until a permanent provider is hired on. The facility needs an additional physician to assist with their clinic, scheduled surgeries, night call and weekend call coverage for a minimum of 1-2 consistent weeks/month.
Coverage Need:
* Seeking 1-2 weeks per month of consistent coverage beginning in November 2024
* Clinic hours are generally Monday through Thursday from 8A - 5P + Friday from 8A - 4P (hours are for both the surgeon & NP, surgeon may not have to be present the entire time)
* Will spend some hours in the clinic each week and spend a majority of your time during the week (between 8A-5P) doing a mix of rounding, inpatient & some clinic l
* Call will be required, but the schedule will vary to include weeknights and weekends.
- Active Iowa license or LOQ (letter of qualification) with the IMLC required at time of submission
- Board Certification or truly Board Eligibility required
- Must have a BLS Certification
- Prefer physicians that can do CVT Surgery (including Vascular) but also open to CT only Surgeons
- Will be needed to cover M-Th @ 8A-5P and F @ 8A-4P doing a mix of rounding/inpatient/clinic + night and weekend call coverage
- Anticipated patient volume: 3-5 new consults/day, 5-10 patients to round on/day (NP helps with this during the weekdays + PA does AM rounding with locums on weekends)
- Average procedure volume: 10-20 procedures/month + 150-200 on average/year | 70% of cases are CV + 30% of cases are CT
- Call coverage responsibilities: inpatient rounding, consults & any emergent cases that come through the ED.
- 100% Adult patient mix
- Procedures to anticipate (and see new consults for): CABG, AVR, MV< RAVR (APP assists w/ these consults, thoracotomy, VATS, CEA (preferred, not required), AV fistula creation, dialysis catheters
- Will have APP support for: placement of wound vacs, removal of pleurx catheters, removal of dialysis catheters
- Facility detail: 150+ bed facility, level III trauma center, Cerner EMR
- Must have minimal NPDB hits (little-to-no malpractice settlements) & must be able to provide two references at time of presentation
