Job Summary
Job Description
Cardiothoracic Surgery at Orlando Health is seeking a board-certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join four full-time cardiac surgeons at the Orlando Health Heart and Vascular Institute. The ideal candidate would have at least 5 years of experience and a broad-based background in the field of cardiac surgery. A strong commitment to quality outcomes, patient care, communication, and teamwork, along with the ability to successfully navigate through the complex field of Cardiac Surgery is critical to this position.
The Orlando Health Heart and Vascular Institute is a collaborative effort between over sixty cardiologists, eleven vascular surgeons, and four cardiothoracic surgeons to provide the highest level of healthcare for their patients. We are a tertiary cardiovascular surgery program providing care to the Orlando Health system with a surgical volume of over 1200 cases per year. We are recognized for being a 3-star STS program in coronary artery bypass grafting and valvular surgery, and placed in the Top 50 by US News & World Report the last two years. Our spectrum of cases includes complex valvular disease, coronary vascularization, complex aortic surgery, structural heart therapies, arrhythmia, and adult congenital surgery.
Historically, our cardiothoracic surgical program has been limited to downtown Orlando and housed at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Due to a recent multi-million-dollar investment, South Lake Hospital was able to expand to include completion of a new tower and the infrastructure to increase cardiovascular services, including surgery. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to help us expand our surgical program to South Lake Hospital, allowing cardiothoracic patients the opportunity to have quality care closer to their homes.
In addition to a competitive salary and benefits package that includes paid vacation, time away for meetings/conferences, health insurance and retirement options, the Orlando and Central Florida area offers its own benefits. No state income tax, a wide variety of activities for children and adults, and excellent educational opportunities are just a few of the amenities that the area has to offer. In addition, the growth of “Medical City” at Lake Nona, including the University of Central Florida Medical School, will continue to position Orlando and Central Florida has a destination for world-class healthcare.
