Valley Health Medical Group (VHMG) seeks a fellowship-trained Complex General Surgical Oncologist to join a thriving 12-year old community surgical oncology and colorectal surgery practice. This is a unique opportunity to join a seasoned, fellowship-trained Surgical Oncologist along with an established team including two Colorectal Surgeons and two APP’s at Winchester Medical Center (WMC), a tertiary care referral hospital and Level II Trauma Center. WMC is a part of Valley Health, a regional non-profit organization that includes six hospitals. WMC was recently designated as “High Performing in Colon Cancer Surgery” by US News and World Report. VHMG is a multispecialty group with over 300 providers that span over the Shenandoah Valley and West Virginia panhandle.

Winchester Medical Center offers 23 state of the art operating rooms, within which there are 5 daVinci Xi robotic surgical systems, two of which with training consoles. WMC also boasts a 48-bed intensive care unit staffed by a dedicated critical care service, a sixty-bed Emergency Department that sees 65,000+ patients a year, dedicated trauma rooms, and a full complement of medical and surgical specialties. WMC also has a beautiful 9-year old, CoC-accredited Cancer Center that houses Medical, Radiation, and Surgical Oncology specialties. The Cancer Center also boasts NAPRC and NAPBC accreditations through the American College of Surgeons. There is opportunity to work with two Thoracic Oncologists, two Gynecologic Oncologists, and a Reconstructive Plastic surgeon to treat a wider variety of malignant diseases. Further, the surgeon will collaborate with community General surgeons, Breast surgeons, Gastroenterologists, and Dermatologists. The surgeon will also have the opportunity to work with VCU surgical residents on service.

Applicants should be board certified/eligible in General Surgery. The successful candidate will also have completed a two-year ACGME-accredited Complex General Surgical Oncology fellowship. The surgeon should be able to perform a wide array of surgical procedures to treat a variety of cancers including colorectal, foregut, hepatobiliary, cutaneous, and soft tissue malignancies.
