Position: Physician - Neurosurgery
Location: Michigan

Requirements:

• Vaccination: Completion of the first two COVID-19 vaccinations and annual flu vaccination required.
• License: IMLC (Interstate Medical Licensure Compact) or active Michigan license required.

Assignment Details:

• Dates Needed: 24-hour weekend call coverage from Fridays through Sundays, 7 AM to 7 AM, continuing through 2024 and potentially longer.
• Practice Setting: Inpatient with a Level II designation.

Responsibilities:

• Call Schedule: Call only, 24-hour weekend call. Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) are available during the day on weekends. Physicians will review patient lists with APPs either in person or via phone each morning. Consultations will be completed with the APPs, sometimes in person and sometimes over the phone. After 7 PM, the surgeon is on call independently.
• Call Back Frequency: Approximately 5-8 hours per 24 hours.

Required Procedures:

• Spinal fusion for trauma
• Craniotomy for trauma
• External Ventricular Drain (EVD) placement
• Intracranial Pressure (ICP) monitor placement

Preferred Skills:

• Emergency Department (ED) surgical and clinical in-house patient coverage
• ICU trauma and stroke management

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of neurosurgery experience preferred.

Technology:

• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC

Credentialing:

• Time Frame: 90–120-day processing. Providers must return credentialing applications within 5 business days of release.

Additional Information:

• Spine Surgery: Required.
• Aneurysm Clippings: Not required.
