The Fort Wayne IND Medical Center, a leading Veterans Affairs healthcare provider, is seeking qualified and compassionate surgeons to join our team. You will be responsible for providing surgical services for a variety of patient needs in both clinic and hospital settings. The position offers a dynamic work schedule with the opportunity for high earnings and ample time off.Work Schedule:
Regular Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
On-call: One week per month of on-call services, must be within a 1-hour drive from the facility

Compensation & Benefits:
We offer highly competitive pay and a range of benefits to attract top talent:1099: $250 per hour with malpractice and tail coverage
On-Call Pay: $100 per hour when on-call
Call-back Pay: $250 per hour for call-back services
Average Yearly Earnings: $550,000 (with 6 weeks off)
W-2 Option: $450,000 with full benefits
Malpractice and tail coverage included
Generous time off: 6 weeks annually
Qualifications & Requirements:
We’re seeking highly skilled surgeons who meet the following criteria: U.S. Citizenship is required
Must have worked within the last 6 months in a surgical capacity
Current CV with all gaps explained (within the last 6 months)
Names and contact numbers for 3 professional references
Board Certification or Eligibility in relevant specialty required
Valid U.S. state license accepted
Privileging & Certification Requirements:
Successful applicants will be required to complete privileging at the Fort Wayne IND Medical Center, which typically takes about 6 weeks. Required documentation and certifications include:
Health Documentation: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
Hepatitis B
Varicella
Tetanus (Td)
PPD (Tuberculosis)
Annual Flu Vaccine
Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support)
Additional Requirements: Fingerprints and background check required

Job Responsibilities
Patient Evaluation & Diagnosis: Assess patients through physical examinations, medical history reviews, and diagnostic tests to determine the need for surgical intervention.
Surgical Planning: Collaborate with patients to develop individualized treatment plans, providing information on surgical risks, benefits, and expected outcomes.
Perform Surgical Procedures: Carry out a variety of surgical interventions, including but not limited to abdominal, digestive tract, hernia repairs, and certain breast and skin surgeries.
Post-Operative Care: Monitor and manage patients during recovery, providing follow-up care, addressing any complications, and ensuring proper healing.
Emergency Care: Respond to surgical emergencies such as trauma, ruptured organs, or infections requiring immediate surgical intervention.
Collaboration: Work alongside anesthesiologists, nurses, and other specialists to ensure holistic care before, during, and after surgery.
Patient Education: Educate patients on pre- and post-surgery care, potential complications, and lifestyle changes for optimal recovery.
Minimally Invasive Techniques: Utilize laparoscopic (minimally invasive) surgical techniques to improve recovery times and reduce complications.
Qualifications
Board-certified or board-eligible in General Surgery
Valid state medical license
Proven experience in performing general surgical procedures
Strong understanding of preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patient management
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction and team collaboration
Ability to handle emergency surgical situations with efficiency and professionalism
