Shift:

  • 4 day work week, M-Th; if they’re working the weekend call then off Thursday and work Fri, Sat, Sun (have flexibility with day off). 10 days of call/month which will include one weekend. If they take additional call (over 10) reimbursement is $1500.

Job Description:

  • Our mission is to be a place where patients want to receive care and employees want to work.
  • Searching for an experienced (at least 1 year of General Surgery work experience is required, at least 5 years of General Surgery work experience is preferred).
  • Facility does not have a robot on site
  • Busy ER: 18,000 visits/year
  • Trauma is rare. No multi-trauma will stay to Springfield. General Surgeon can expect mostly bread and butter cases - gall bladders, hernias, appendix, bowels, Upper and lower GI Endoscopy (about 100 per month)The General surgeons complete their own Endoscopy, we do not have a Gastroenterologist.
  • Sees ages ~16+. No peds as there is no pediatrician onsite.
  • Emergency Department is run by MD’s and Mid-levels – always have an MD on site
  • Have contracted service for Anesthesia which is made up of CRNAs.
  • No ICU, which limits General Surgery cases.
  • Call is manageable and will fluctuate.
  • Basic GS Schedule:
    - Mondays - OR
    - Tuesdays – GI-Endo
    - Wednesdays – OR or GI-Endo or Clinic
    - Thursdays – Clinic
  • Support staff: Medical Assistant in clinic, RN in OR and GI-Endo, no APP support
  • Takes about 90 days to get a VT license for an MD; less time for DO - will consider either, but prefers a quick start
  • Credentialing takes about 30 days - can get started without a license
  • 1-hour response time to hospital when on call and 15-mins response to a page is required. Must already live in or relocate within this radius.
