We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible General Surgeon for locum tenens coverage at Siloam Springs Regional Hospital in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. This position includes a mix of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities, with both clinical and emergency call coverage required.

The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to a diverse patient population and contribute to the hospital's commitment to community-focused healthcare.

  • Provide general surgery services, including laparoscopic procedures, appendectomies, hernioplasties, cholecystectomies, and other common surgeries.
  • Participate in emergency call coverage for unassigned patients and the ED.
  • Cover the clinic practice for an existing provider during their absence.
  • Perform rounding for inpatient cases as needed.
  • Collaborate with hospital staff to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
  • Document patient care in the Cerner EMR system.

Job Responsibilities

Provide general surgery services, including laparoscopic procedures, appendectomies, hernioplasties, cholecystectomies, and other common surgeries.
Participate in emergency call coverage for unassigned patients and the ED.
Cover the clinic practice for an existing provider during their absence.
Perform rounding for inpatient cases as needed.
Collaborate with hospital staff to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
Document patient care in the Cerner EMR system.

Qualifications

Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery.
Active Arkansas medical license (required).
Current certifications in ACLS and BLS.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a general surgery role.
Temporary privileges available for eligible candidates.

Working Hours

Scheduled Clinical Hours Plus Call Coverage.
Minimum commitment of 7–10 days per month, with ongoing coverage needed for at least the next five months.
Specific upcoming coverage dates include January 25–February 2.

Skills

Expertise in general surgery procedures including:
Laparoscopic surgery.
Appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernioplasty.
Ventilation management and central line insertion.
Minor orthopedic procedures and trauma management.
Ability to manage both adult and pediatric patients.
