We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Locums Transplant Surgery Physician to join our team in Burlington, Vermont. This position involves providing specialized surgical care for kidney transplant patients and collaborating closely with various healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

The physician will be responsible for providing transplant call coverage, which includes screening, accepting, and declining deceased donor kidneys in collaboration with the Center for Donation and Transplantation. Additionally, the physician will perform kidney transplants on accepted deceased donor kidneys.

Collaboration with the on-call Transplant Coordinator is essential to bring transplant candidates in for potential procedures. The physician will also round on transplant patients in the hospital who are within 90 days post-transplant, working alongside the Transplant Nephrologist. If desired, the locum physician can participate in the weekly Selection Committee meetings to enhance the quality of care for transplant patients.

The physician will perform kidney transplants without recipient nephrectomy, exclusively using accepted deceased donor kidneys. Preferred procedures include laparoscopic donor nephrectomy.

This position requires 24/7 on-call coverage on designated days, with the understanding that kidneys will be accepted based on established criteria.

Qualifications:

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Transplant Surgery.
  • ASTS Certification as a Transplant Surgeon is required.
  • Experience in kidney transplantation and related surgical procedures.
