Job Summary
Join a part-time general surgeon, two per diem general surgeons, a team of locum general surgeons (primarily for on-call coverage), and part-time gastroenterology (GI) coverage to help meet clinical demands for services and re-build the general surgery service at our 25-bed Critical Access Hospital.
Partners with other members of general surgical team (e.g., surgeon colleagues,
radiologist, anesthetists, MA’s and RNs, and physical therapists).

EMR: Meditech Expanse

On Call Requirements: 10 days/month and 120 days/year
Includes one weekend per month (Friday at 8 am through Monday at 8 am)
Additional on-call opportunities are available at surgeon’s discretion for additional
compensation (see below).
Must be within 30 minutes when on call.
There is not a general surgeon on call. Therefore, the general surgeons on call collegially provide phone advice to ED and hospitalist providers.
General surgeon will accept clinically appropriate patients in transfer for admission or operative care. General surgeon will also agree to see patient in ED for consultation to determine appropriate disposition.
Schedule: 4-4.5 days a week
Mondays – Office
Tuesdays – OR
Wednesdays – Office
Thursdays – Office
Fridays – Office (half day) or off*
4 or 4.5 days per week. Standard day (or half-day) off to be mutually determined at time
of negotiation of physician employment agreement. Currently, Friday or perhaps
Monday would be an option.

Job Requirements
Prefer candidates have prior experience (at least 2-5 years) in broad spectrum of general
surgery and endoscopy. Selected new graduates from residency or fellowship training may be eligible. Prior experience in a small hospital desired. Must be comfortable with rural nature of practice/hospital, limited general surgery colleagues, solo coverage on call, and complement of specialists (surgical and medical) and diagnostic testing capacity.
Special clinical interests/expertise to complement those of current part-time general surgeon and expand scope of services to our region are always welcomed. Candidate must be willing to offer the broad scope of practice of a typical rural, community surgeon.
Team oriented, collaborative, and patient focused. High level of customer service (patient satisfaction) is expected. Excellent, respectful communication with all members of care team.
H1-B and J-1 visa candidates will be considered if excellent communication skills.

Bonuses
For each Fiscal Year of this Agreement, or a portion thereof, the Physician shall also be
eligible for a Good Citizenship Bonus in addition to Annual Base Salary based upon
achievement of selected criteria. Typically, 3 or 4 criteria per year, which may
change from time to time, generally no more frequently than once annually in advance
of a Fiscal Year.
The maximum annual Good Citizenship Bonus per Fiscal Year is $15,000.
In addition to Annual Base Salary, the Physician shall be eligible to receive additional compensation for high levels of clinical productivity as measured by wRVU for professional services personally performed by the Physician.

Commencement Bonus
$15,000 Paid on first pay date following hire (up to 17 days). Not a signing bonus
Extra call Compensation For mutually agreed upon extra calls (above 120/year), surgeon will be compensated $1,500 each regardless of day of week or holiday status.

Relocation: Varies depending on distance of move, size of family, etc. Taxable.
Mileage: 62.5 cents/mile - Consistent with policy, shall reimburse the
Practitioner for mileage related to outreach clinic travel (to/from sites).
