MidState Medical Center, located in Meriden, CT, is a 156-bed community setting. We are seeking an is seeking an Acute Care surgeon with fellowship training in Minimally Invasive Surgery to join our thriving practice and continue to build on Acute Care Surgery Program!

General surgery service which encompasses many specialties.

Supporting a team of five general surgeons, we offer a comprehensive range of general surgery services, including foregut, bariatrics, colorectal, hernia, robotics, wound care, and more. No Trauma.

Responsibilities and expectations:

  • Consulting and operating on patients who come thru the ER or are inhouse. Working collaboratively with the five surgeons and full surgical PA service at Midstate.
  • Running the Quinnipiac Medical school third year clerkship at Midstate. Two students for 5-week rotations. Teaching and taking them into the OR and on rounds. There are no residents.
  • Provide increased surgical critical care presence in the ICU and the ER.
  • Rounding and covering for surgeons who are not on campus.
  • One day a week for follow up office visit for post op care. No elective practice.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday – 40 hours per week.
  • Call: from home
  • One in four weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) includes rounding on patients and operating.
  • Two weekday calls per month.

Qualifications

Board certification or eligibility in general surgery.
Completion of a Minimally-invasive Surgery fellowship.
  Experience with open, laparoscopic, and robotic techniques.
