Job Description:
  • Our mission is to be a place where patients want to receive care and employees want to work.
  • This is a small, rural hospital where the General Surgeon will be primarily on solo coverage. Searching for an experienced (at least 1 year of General Surgery work experience is required, at least 5 years of General Surgery work experience is preferred).
  • Busy ER: 18,000 visits/year
  • Trauma is rare. No multi-trauma will come to Hospital. General Surgeon can expect mostly bread and butter cases - gall bladder, hernia, a lot of upper and lower GI Endoscopy (about 100 per month) as there is no GI onsite.
  • Sees ages ~16+. No peds as there is no pediatrician onsite.
  • Emergency Department is run by an MD.
  • 4 day work week, M-Th; if they’re working the weekend call then off Thursday and work Fri, Sat, Sun. 10 days of call/month. If they take more call than that (approximately 5 extra days available per month), they are reimbursed extra for it. Call is manageable and will fluctuate.
  • - Mondays - OR
  • - Tuesdays – GI-Endo
  • - Wednesdays – OR or GI-Endo
  • - Thursdays – Clinic
  • Support staff: Medical Assistant in clinic, RN in OR and GI-Endo, no APP support
  • Takes about 90 days to get a VT license for an MD; less time for DO - will consider either, but prefers a quick start
  • Credentialing takes about 30 days - can get started without a license
