COMPANY PROFILE:
This private practice has been providing surgical services to residents of the greater Palmer area since 2013. They currently employ 1 surgeon and 1 surgical nurse practitioner, and are seeking a new general surgeon due to growth. Their surgical offerings include thyroid, colon, gallbladder, breast, varicose veins, hernias, and more, with access to state-of-the-art systems such as da Vinci and Covidien vein ablation. They see patients in their own clinic and ambulatory surgery center, as well as at a regional hospital that is in the process of becoming a designated trauma center.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This position is employed by a private practice with its own clinic and surgery center, that is also contracted by a regional hospital to cover surgical services (along with 5 other private practices).
The work is standard general surgery, but can include GI, endoscopy, and thoracic procedures if the new physician would like to work in those areas (this is NOT required).
The new physician will typically spend three (3) days per week in the clinic and/or ASC and two (2) days per week at the hospital. The exact schedule is negotiable, based on physician preference.
On clinic days, providers typically see 15 to 20 patients. Surgical days vary in volume.
The patient base is 40% Medicare and 60% commercial insurance.
In all settings, physicians are fully supported by dedicated clinical and/or surgical assistants.
The practice uses the AdvancedMD EHR with Dragon for transcription.
On-call is shared with the five (5) other practices and is approximately 1:7. Weekend call is full coverage and includes rounding on other practices’ patients.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Alaska medical license
- DEA
