Legacy Silverton Medical Center delivers care with a personal touch. Proud to be part of the rich fabric in this community for more than 100 years, we also serve Woodburn, Keizer, Mt. Angel and the rest of the mid-Willamette Valley.
Good health for our people, our patients, our communities and our world — these are not just words. They are commitments that form the core of our mission, and we take them seriously. That mission matches a profound and serious footprint: Legacy Health is a locally owned nonprofit, six-hospital health system that also includes a full-service children’s hospital, a 24-hour mental and behavioral health services center, and more than 70 primary care, specialty and urgent care clinics, 14,000 employees and nearly 3,000 health care providers. We provide comprehensive health care services across the Portland and Vancouver metro area and mid-Willamette Valley and have the most five-star ratings for hospitals in the region. From rural areas to urban centers, we play a critical role in the lives of 2.5 million people.
As one of the largest employers in the area, people trust Legacy with their health and livelihoods. That is why Forbes named Legacy one of the best large employers in America in 2023. That vote of trust also demands that we leave a positive mark on our community beyond the hallways of our hospitals and clinics. As a reflective and open-minded organization, we value the ideals of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). We acknowledge our country’s history of systemic racism and that it exists deeply in our society, our industry and within our organization. But we have done more than merely acknowledge and value these ideals. We’ve demonstrated a real commitment to change through concrete actions. We have also ensured that diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives remain a single focus that will be integrated into every future system-wide strategy, as well as all of our operations and patient care across our system.
About Radia, Inc:
For the world to meet its decarbonization targets, onshore wind energy must be a significant and increasingly large part of the energy mix.
The most efficient wind turbines – those that produce the most power and therefore drive costs down – are the largest.
But there is a problem. These large turbines, and especially their blades – the largest today and the even larger ones planned for the future – are the most difficult to deliver and deploy.
Radia will overcome these barriers. Radia is an energy company building a unique aerial transportation solution, the WindRunner, specifically engineered to deliver the largest wind turbine blades and components directly to wind farm sites – including difficult-to-access locations and low-wind locations where large blades are needed to generate power more cost effectively. Simultaneously, Radia is developing a world-class portfolio of wind energy projects to leverage this solution. And we are partnering with the world’s largest energy and industrial companies to support their energy transition plans.
This unique combination of capabilities allows Radia to bring together the ecosystem of stakeholders and partners to enable GigaWind – the largest onshore wind turbines manufactured by our partners and deployed to more places.
The result will be radical expansion of the scope and scale of the onshore wind energy industry, an expanded role for onshore wind in the renewable energy mix, more clean electrons and green molecules at low cost, and significant progress on the path to decarbonization.
About the Community:
Founded in 1854, Silverton is a historic town with stately homes shaded by grand old oak trees nestled in the heart of the Willamette Valley. Over three hundred years ago the City of Silverton was occupied by two contiguous Native American language tribes; the Kalapuya and the Molala. The Kalapuya primarily resided in present day Silverton, however, they were a semi-nomadic tribe following the seasons for hunting and harvesting. They thrived from the robust vegetation produced by Silverton’s rich soil and harvested over 50 varied foliage’s for food and medicine. During the late 1700’s to 1830’s, European explorers began to venture to the Pacific Northwest with the rise in fur trading. The Europeans added to the population creating an economic differential for the land. This resulted in the depletion of the Kalapuya tribe due to decrease in fundamental resources and exposure to communicable disease. The majority of the Kalapuya over time integrated into the Confederated Tribes of Grande Rhonde.
Settlers came to the banks of the Silver Creek following timber and hydropower. In 1846, James Smith and John Barger established a sawmill on the creek with a small settlement, and thus, Milford began to grow. In 1854, Milford was abandoned and the businesses within the area were relocated downstream to the current site of the City of Silverton. Silverton was officially incorporated in 1885, and by 1894, the population of Silverton reached nearly 900. The blossoming town became a trading and banking center of prominence and was ranked as one of the more progressive towns of Western Oregon.
Spring, summer, winter or fall, Silverton is a wonderful place with a full complement of amenities and activities.
