A hospital in eastern North Carolina is seeking two Board-Certified Vascular Interventional Radiologists to provide full-time locum tenens coverage. This position supports a busy Interventional/Vascular Radiology Service with a blend of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities, including consults, bedside procedures, and clinical rounding. A well-established team of physicians and Advanced Practice Providers ensures a supportive and collaborative environment. Call rotation is shared and includes night and weekend coverage.
Job Highlights
  • Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Night and weekend call required (1:6 or 1:7 rotation)
  • Volume: 50% inpatient / 50% outpatient
  • Avg Census: 12 inpatients/day
  • Anticipated Total Volume: Up to 25 patients/day
  • Avg per provider: 6–8 patients/day
  • Setting: Hospital-based, Level 1 trauma center

  • $4,000/day
  • Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Key Responsibilities
  • Interventional and diagnostic radiology procedures
  • Inpatient clinical responsibilities include:
  • Rounding, consults, physical exams
  • Ordering/interpretation of diagnostic tests
  • Bedside procedures
  • Patient education
  • Outpatient follow-up via ARU
Respond to codes (less than 1% of outpatient visits result in admission) LT not required to remain onsite while on call No ICU or critical care duties No ER backup responsibilities
Required Skills & Experience
  • Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology
  • Fellowship-trained in Interventional Radiology
  • Must be able to read:
  • Neuro
  • MSK
  • Body
  • Stroke studies
Comfortable with high-volume hospital-based practice BLS Certification (AHA) required Active North Carolina license or IMLC eligibility Clean malpractice history preferred
Recommended Pay Package
  • Daily Rate: $4,000/day (12-hour shift)
  • Call Coverage: Included in rate
  • Travel & Lodging: Prepaid and arranged
  • Malpractice: A-rated claims-made policy with tail
  • Employment Type: 1099 Independent Contractor
