We are seeking a Board-Certified Pediatric Child Abuse Physician to provide expert consultation and clinical oversight in cases of suspected child abuse and neglect. This role is a full-time locum tenens opportunity, with the option for in-person or virtual coverage (remote employment restrictions apply). The physician will work within the Child Abuse Intervention Department (CAID) alongside a dedicated team of nurse practitioners, social workers, and healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality, trauma-informed care for vulnerable pediatric patients.
Job Responsibilities
Provide inpatient support for suspected abuse cases in the Emergency Room, inpatient units, and trauma services.
Review medical records, imaging, and case documentation to assess suspected child abuse cases and recommend appropriate next steps.
Supervise Child Abuse Nurse Practitioners and assist in their professional development.
Lead education and training initiatives for healthcare providers on early identification, documentation, and management of child abuse cases.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the Child Abuse Intervention Department.|$
Qualifications
Subspecialty training in Child Abuse Pediatrics preferred.
Active Washington State Medical License (or willingness to obtain).
Experience in Child Abuse Pediatrics, forensic evaluation, child protection protocols, and trauma-informed care.
Familiarity with EPIC EMR system.
Strong understanding of legal processes related to child abuse cases.
Working Hours
Full-time availability required (no part-time options).
Call Coverage: Optional (weekend call potential; details to be determined).
Patient Volume:
4-5 inpatient cases per month.
10-15 clinic patients per month.
1-2 cases per day in the Emergency Department.
Skills
Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (social workers, law enforcement, and healthcare providers).
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Experience in training and mentoring healthcare providers in child protection protocols.
