You will have the autonomy to design the structure and scope of the service, allowing you to create a model program for pediatric mental healthcare.

Responsibilities (notably to be determined by you):

  • Develop and implement comprehensive Pediatric Psychology services, including inpatient consultation, outpatient individual and family therapy, and group interventions.
  • Provide evidence-based assessments and treatment for a wide range of psychological, emotional, and behavioral issues common among children and adolescents, such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, trauma, and disruptive behavior disorders.
  • Opportunity to collaborate closely with Pediatricians and other healthcare professionals, to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
  • Partner closely with our Pediatric Psychiatry team to provide comprehensive and integrated mental health services for children and adolescents.
  • Develop and deliver educational programs for staff, patients, families, and the community on topics related to child development, mental health, and parenting.
  • Participate in program development and quality improvement initiatives to enhance the delivery of Pediatric Psychology services.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient encounters.
  • Stay current with the latest research and best practices in Pediatric Psychology.
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology or a related field.
  • Completion of an APA-accredited internship and postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric psychology with significant experience working with children and adolescents.
  • Licensure or license eligibility to practice psychology in Virginia.
  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting comprehensive assessments and providing evidence-based interventions for children and adolescents.
  • Strong understanding of child development and the unique mental health needs of children and adolescents across different age groups.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, especially with children, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • A passion for improving the lives of children and families and a commitment to providing compassionate care.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in program development and implementation is highly desired.

Why Valley Health?

  • Be a pioneer in building a much-needed service line.
  • Opportunity to shape the future of pediatric mental healthcare in our community.
