Clinician/Physician Leadership
  1. Ensure that patients have appropriate physician/medical coverage and ensure the provision of physician and mid-level clinician services

  2. Help the CMO with a process to evaluate and review physician and mid-level clinician competencies

  3. Provide day to day specific guidance for physician and mid-level performance expectations within their setting

  4. Ensure that a system is in place for monitoring the performance of all care practitioners

  5. Give feedback to clinicians/ physicians and other health care practitioners on their clinical performance and skills

  6. Lead the clinical staff in the development and implementation of biopsychosocial interventions to treat behavioral health patients

    Patient Care - Clinical Leadership

  1. Participate in regular leadership meetings contributing to the development of policies and procedures related to patient care

  2. Help develop, approve, and implement specific clinical practices for the facility to incorporate into its care-related policies and procedures, including areas required licensing and accreditation agencies

  3. Maintain an “on-call” procedure for site physicians that meets the needs of the clinicians and patients at that facility. This may include procedures to address admission/discharge issues, self-harm risks, adverse medical events, or hospitalization issues

  4. Review, respond to and participate in federal, state, local and other external surveys and inspections

  5. Help review policies and procedures regarding the adequate protection of patients' rights and other ethical issues.

  6. See patients regularly to evaluate and treat their problem list

    Quality of Care

  1. Establish systems and methods for reviewing the quality and appropriateness of clinical care and other health-related services

  2. Participate in the quality improvement process which may include participation in one or more of the PI subcommittees

  3. Work with the clinical team to maintain “Best Practices” in all areas

  4. Advise on infection control issues and approve specific infection control policies to be incorporated into facility policies and procedures

  5. Help provide a safe and caring environment; promote employee health and safety

    Learning and Education

  1. Promote a learning culture by educating, informing, and communicating with physician and clinical staff about important timely clinical issues

  2. Provide information to provide care consistent with current standards of practice (defined as "approaches to care, procedures, techniques and treatments that are based on research and /or expert consensus and that are contained in current manuals textbooks and or publications, or that are accepted, adopted or promulgated by recognized organizations or national bodies.")

  3. Develop medical information and communication systems with staff, patients, and families and others

  4. Represent the professional and lay community on medical and patient care issues

  5. Maintain knowledge of the changing social, regulatory, political, and economic factors that affect medical and health services of long term care patients; and from time to time provide internal and external training or educational presentations on clinical issues important to the field.

  6. Maintain knowledge in current and emerging medical practice in the behavioral health field and evaluate for possible use.

  7. Maintain good standing membership in professional communities such as AACAP and ASAM to represent Rosecrance well.

    Administration

  1. Provide leadership and oversight with other physicians regarding timely completion of clinical documents necessary for good clinical care and reimbursement

  2. Provide necessary information for projects related to obtaining or application of grants and contracts

  3. Be available to the media on occasion when an expert in your particular field is needed

  4. Monitor, review and revise medical and treatment procedures as appropriate for continued compliance with SUPR, TJC and Medicaid/Medicare regulations and generally accepted medical practice.
