Adult Forensic Psychiatrist Inpatient Locum Tenens Job in California
Details/Requirements:
*Adult inpatient coverage starting ASAP and ongoing
*Evaluate, admit, treat (by providing pharmacotherapy), and discharge patients.
*Will also participate in daily meetings such as treatment team meetings and unit meetings.
*No forensic training or experience is necessary.
*Full team of complementary disciplines (such as psychologist, social workers, recreational therapists, nursing staff, and custody staff) to support the candidate is his/her daily tasks.
*Need is for 40 hours per week.
*Hours: Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday, 7:30am-5:30pm, 4 tens.
*No call.
*Average case load is 10-12 patients on the inpatient unit.
*The average number of patient encounters will be 10-12 encounters per day.
*Approximately 10-12 beds are on the inpatient unit which the locum tenens Doctor will be covering.
*Average length of stay is 20-25 days.
*All medical issues, including physicals, are addressed by the facility’s medicine service. There is a hospitalist in the facility 24 hours a day. The locum tenens Psychiatrist will never be asked to address any medical issues or questions. Even the medical-specific medications (such as an anti-hypertensive) are ordered or continued by the hospitalist. Even the diet is ordered by the hospitalist.
*Six month minimum assignments.
*Security for the locum tenens Doctor: Personal alarms are provided. Custody officers are ever-present.
