We are seeking a full-time Psychiatrist to join our team at Lowell Correctional Institution located in Ocala, Florida. As the Horse Capital of the World, Ocala boasts an abundance of cultural and sporting opportunities as well as ample opportunities for outdoor recreation.
This is one of the most diverse and innovative female institutions in the US. Provide all levels of outpatient services within this state-of-the-art female correctional institution. Utilize some of the most innovative programing and use of specialized mental health units to assist those with serious mental illness.
The Psychiatrist provides psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients, works under the supervision of the Psychiatric Medical Director, and provides clinical leadership for a multi-disciplinary team in providing behavioral health services to patients with psychiatric disorders or other mental health issues.
Job Responsibilities
Qualifications
• Current license to practice medicine in Florida required
• Board Certification in Psychiatry
• Must have an active Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration certificate
• Must maintain current tuberculosis documentation and active CPR certification
• Must be able to pass background investigation and obtain agency security clearance where applicable
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience practicing as psychiatrist in a clinical setting preferred
• Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in an clinical setting
• Experience in correctional mental health care or locked unit preferred
Working Hours
Day Shift
All full-time Psychiatrists participate in rotational on-call approximately every 6 to 8 weeks. The on-call lasts for 7 days / 24 hours per day and is compensated above and beyond the guaranteed annual salary.
