Psychiatrist (new grads accepted) - Brooklyn, NY

Shift: Days

Job Summary & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall functioning and clinical/administrative coverage of the CPEP, CL or Adult and Child & Adolescent Inpatient units within Behavioral Health.

  • Conduct physical rounds of all units at start of each shift during call to determine bed availability in coordination with ADN. Communicate findings to the CPEP Director or Psychiatrist-In-Charge.

  • Provide necessary intervention, including medications, as necessary.

  • Evaluate all patients on observation level 1:1 and continue or discontinue as indicated.

  • Respond to all requests for psychiatric support in the management of agitated patients on any service in the BH service.

  • Review and confirm involuntary legal statuses as necessary and in accordance with mental hygiene law. Respond to 3-day letters as necessary. 7. Write admission notes on all new admissions, adult and child.

  • Attend CPEP change of shift meeting and participate in full and appropriate sign-out and sign-in procedures when going off and onto service.

  • Receive sign-out from Inpatient Attendings/NP's or prior shift re: all recently admitted patients, complex cases, patients either on 1:1 or in need of psychiatric assessment or notes.

  • Review and provide supervision for all patients seen by the Consultation/Liaison resident. Must perform face-to-face assessment for all patients seen by resident and provide necessary sign-off.

  • Must be reachable at all times via cellular or beeper. Must inform the CPEP Director or Psychiatrist-In-Charge of whereabouts when leaving the R building for any reason.

Education, Licensure, and Experience:

  • Board eligible or board certified in Psychiatry.

  • New graduates accepted

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.

  • Completion of residency training in Psychiatry from an accredited program.

  • Valid license to practice medicine in the State of New York.
