Job Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the SNHMC Behavioral Health Services Medical Director include, but are not limited to:
Committing to uphold the Medical Center’s mission, vision, beliefs, core values and standards of behavior.
Representing the Behavioral Health Services within Southern New Hampshire Health (SNHH) and to other public constituencies.
Communicating effectively, in a mature and respectful manner, with employees, patients / family members and other health disciplines, to promote a positive work environment.
FT position, devoting 20 hours per week to patient clinical time and 20 hours per week to administrative time, except during periods of absence.
Providing 24/7 administrative on-call coverage or identifying an “acting Medical Director” during authorized periods of absence.
Attending pertinent committee / staff meetings.
Collaborating with Psychiatrists and Psychiatric-Mental Health Advanced Practice Registered Nurses to ensure overall patient care and compliance related to BHS.
Coordinating an equitable assignment of patients among Behavioral Health providers.
Collaborating with Consulting Internist to ensure and support appropriate medical care.
Providing clinical oversight and care to patients on the BHU.
Reviewing potential admissions to the BHU from SNHH and external facilities.
Providing clinical oversight of the PHP and the IOP.
Collaborating with ACCESS clinicians.
Providing occasional on-site consultation at SNHMC Main Campus, as needed.
Participating in after-hours clinical on-call duties to provide 24/7 psychiatric coverage, as needed.
Monitor and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of behavioral health services and treatment provided by the medical staff.
Supervising and teaching third- and fourth-year medical students during their behavioral health rotation.
Performing all required clinical documentation pertaining to patient care, including the timely signing of medical records.
Maintaining confidentiality of reported and recorded information in compliance with HIPPA standards.
Collaborating with the Nurse Director of BHS to
Develop, communicate, and ensure compliance with BHS policies and regulations to BHS providers and staff
Participate in strategic planning and Quality Improvement initiatives
Facilitate the development and administration of the Behavioral Health provider after-hours clinical on-call schedule
Pro-actively monitor bed availability and acuity
Provide Overall Management of BHS
Performing other duties as assigned.

Working Hours

M-F 8AM - 5PM
