Inpatient: Coverage includes practices in medical office, Mount Nittany Medical Center, various other facilities if needed. 12-bed inpatient adult unit (very small). They don’t take large volume of high acuity patients due to size – they need to be cautious of this. They take care of consults and serve the EM
department. Admissions typically take place after hours but they have 24 hours to work them up. Discharges and consults during the day.

Job Responsibilities

Average of 5 consults on medical floor. Ages 18 years to geriatric. Diverse patient population due to university. Approx. 1-2 admissions per day.

Qualifications

Board Certified or Board Eligible within 18 months of residency.
PA license must be active at presentation

Working Hours

-Ongoing need for bench strength. Orientation would be the day prior to the physician's 1st shift starting at 8:30A.
-Typically Friday 5PM to next Friday 5PM, morning huddle at 8AM onsite, then complete consults when done (usually done between 3-5P.
On-call Friday 5PM to next Friday 5PM. Takes emergency calls on a rotating basis on evenings, weekends and holidays. They batch calls overnight when possible.
