  • Seeking a Psychiatrist to join our inpatient mental health team in Waterloo, IA
  • Dedicated Medical Directorship hours.
  • 21 Bed adult only (ages 18 and up) Mental Health Unit
  • 96% fill capacity
  • Experienced team of 5 Advanced Practice Providers
  • Safety techs, Counselors, Social worker, Discharge Navigators, and experienced nursing staff
  • Tele psych available on unit
  • ED with dedicated behavioral health hallway (5 rooms)
  • Advanced Practice Supervision

  • Collegial practice and care environment, supported by highly trained physician, clinical staff, and administration.
  • Hospitalists consult in inpatient mental health.
  • Fully integrated system with clinics and hospitals on Epic EMR to improve care coordination.
Responsibilities: Initial psychiatric evaluation on new patients, with follow-up treatment and/or medication management with existing patients for continuum of care Lead 8AM Monday-Friday mental health staff meeting Lead strategic planning duties and oversight of providers within the service line Developing best practices and collaborations with site leads and clinics Supervision & Coaching for advance practice providers on inpatient unit & walk in-clinic Hospital cross functional support for behavioral health services with inpatient mental health unit, walk in clinic, ED, and medical floor consults Nursing home psychiatry evaluations Coverage includes admissions, discharges, rounding, and discharge summaries. Participate in treatment team activities to include the development and periodic review of plans. Collaborate with physicians, social workers, nurses, or other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress Participate in nonrestrictive call during the week and available by phone on weekends. Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work as a team member to improve the health of the people and communities we serve.
