Shift Details: 5 x 6.5

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6.5 hours per day, either 7am-1:30pm or 1:00pm-7:30pm


Work Details:

  • Support staff: 2 PMHNPs, 2-3 LCSWs
  • Amount of coverage needed per month: 20 days per month
  • Patients per day: Indirect supervision and oversite for 10-20 patients, direct patient care for 5-10 patients per shift
  • Patient population/age: Adult
  • Department description: Psychiatric Emergency Department & Inpatient

  • Skills required: Adult acute care (inpatient and emergency department); The emergency psychiatry team provides psychiatric consultation for patients in the DRH ED as well as ongoing management of patients who have been admitted for medical or psychiatry observation in the ED. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assist with triaging clinical responsibilities, provide direct patient care by completing initial evaluations and ongoing psychiatric management, supervision of advanced practice providers and licensed clinical behavioral health social workers, provide education and supervision for Duke medical students on their psych clerkship in the DRH ED, collaborate with ED medical providers and internal medicine hospitalists on necessary medical care.

  • Board Certification: Yes, Psychiatry (will accept BE within 5 years)

  • Minimum experience required: 1 – 2 years

Credentialing Timeframe: 3 months (6 months if candidate needs to acquire a North Carolina medical license)
