Shift Details: M-F, day shifts, 8hrs
Work Details:
· Support staff: Other psychiatrists, medical director
· Amount of coverage needed per month: 5 shifts per week, 4 weeks per month
· Patients per day: 12 per 8hr shift
· Patient population/age: Adult
· Department description: Psychiatry
· EMR: EPIC
· Hospital bed size: 80
· Skills required:
o Each patient must be seen by the assigned psychiatrist daily and have a note documented (H&P, Progress note, or Discharge summary).
o The psychiatrist is the leader of the treatment team and participation in all treatment meetings is mandatory.
o Must attend all legal hearings for patients except when on staff psychologist is available to represent the facility in writ and Meredith hearings.
o Review the morning treatment sheets/huddle report for acute behavioral and acute medical issues and other patient related issues on the unit.
o Inpatient psychiatrists are to provide handoffs for each patient if they are not resuming care for the patient on the following day.
o Obtain medication consents and review patient’s legal status, file petitions as needed, and update orders reflecting status on EMR.
o Review and update the problem list for all patients and complete the medication reconciliation.
o All messages and notifications arriving in EPIC ‘In Basket’ need to be addressed daily.
o Sign any verbal orders (must be signed within 24hrs)
o Check and cosign the nursing medical note assigned to the psychiatrist to review if that patient might require a medical consult and obtain the same.
