Details/Requirements:
*Child, adolescent, and young adult outpatient coverage for two to three additional 8-hour days/16-24 hours a week starting ASAP and ongoing.
*Prefer onsite candidates, but will consider 50% remote, 50% onsite. All initial evaluations must be done onsite.
*Contracted with L.A. County Department of Mental Health to provide outpatient services to some of the County’s patients referred to them.
*Will consider either a child trained psychiatrist willing to see young adults up to age 25 or an adult psychiatrist who is experienced with children ages 5 and up. Patient ages range from 5 to 25 years. 10%-13% are transitional age youth (TAY). Average patient age is middle school. Very low number of patients with dual diagnoses/co-occurring disorders.
*Will complete JV220 forms. If you have knowledge of how to complete these forms it would be a plus, but can train you. Must complete a JV220 form for foster kids who are wards of the Court and are referred by DCFS, because the Court must give authorization for each of these patients to be placed on medications.
*Board Certification is required in either child or adult psychiatry.
*Flexible regarding days worked each week, 8-hour shifts, 8A-5P, Monday through Friday.
*No call.
*Average 10-12 patients per day in an 8-hour day.
*Allows 1 to 1.5 hours for initial evaluations for children and 30-45 minutes for medication follow ups. Allow 45 minutes to one hour for initial evaluations for adults and 30 minutes for medication follow ups.
*Electronic health record, so you must be computer savvy. Will train on their E.H.R.
*Takes about 30-60 days for credentialing, including a live scan and TB test. Even with this job being 100% remote tele psychiatry, all candidates must have received the covid vaccine, including the 1st booster, no exceptions.
*Three to six month minimum assignments preferred, but the longer the assignment the better.
*Need to have past experience with L.A. County DMH paperwork.
*Must be set up with Medi-Cal as part of the credentialing process.
