Pediatrician Responsibilities:
- The Pediatrician works as part of the medical provider team, performing a variety of direct primary care services to patients
- Provides general supervision to Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants as appropriate
- Provides inpatient care services and/or rounding on newborns
- Obtains completes medical history, reviews medications, and performs complete physical examinations
- Diagnoses acute and chronic illness on the basis of clinical findings, laboratory and x-ray reports, and/or the results of other diagnostic procedures according to approved protocols
- Implements treatment and prescribes medications as needed according to therapeutic goals
- Formulates, initiates, and monitors management plans for assigned patients using approved protocols
- Provides health education to patients and their families as appropriate
- Other duties may be included in the Physician’s employment contract
Pediatrician Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited medical school with a degree of Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy
- Completion of an approved residency program in Pediatric medicine
- The Pediatrician must be board certified in Pediatrics, or board eligible (if recent graduate)
- License to practice as a Physician in the state of Nebraska, or license eligible
- BLS certification
- Proficiency in English
