Banner Children’s Specialists (BCS) is seeking a full time Board Eligible or Board Certified Pediatric Surgeon to join our growing program in the Phoenix Metro Area with a pediatric population of 350,000+. We are seeking a candidate who will provide a wide range of surgical care for premature newborns to 18-year-old adolescents at Banner Desert Medical Center (BDMC) in Mesa, AZ. Procedures include the full scope of laparoscopic, thoracoscopic, robotic, and open surgeries in the cervical, thoracic, and abdominal regions addressing the diseases of the respiratory, digestive, biliary, genitourinary, and dermatologic systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate interested in working in a high-volume environment with several index cases. Our Pediatric Surgery team currently consists of two Pediatric Surgeons and seven Advanced Practice Providers working closely with other Pediatric Subspecialties such as Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, Neurosurgery, Hematology/Oncology, and Cardiology.
Position Details:
- Outpatient Clinic 2 days/week
- 7 shifts of call per month, to include one weekend
- Full range of Pediatric Subspecialties to work with
- Strong organizational support
- Robotic surgery capability on campus
Highlights:
- Practice hosts PGY3 residents from UACOMP Integrated Surgical Residency and MS3/MS4 students, opportunity for teaching if desired.
- In addition to providing comprehensive services at Banner Children’s at Desert, our teams provide inpatient care for babies in the neonatal intensive care unit at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix and full range of pediatric surgical services at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center
- Banner Children’s pediatric surgeons participate in a comprehensive, multidisciplinary fetal care program.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Board-certified or eligible in Pediatric Surgery
- 3-5 years of experience preferred, new grads encouraged to apply

Serving a pediatric population of 350,000+, Banner Children’s at Desert (BDMC) in Glendale is a state-of-the-art, 206-bed children’s hospital that was opened in November 2009. Banner Children's at Desert was designed “Through the Eyes of a Child,” meaning it has all the comforts of home and does not feel institutional. The hospital is meant to inspire healing, learning and imagination. Our Child Life professionals play an active role in ensuring children feel safe and prepared for the hospital experience. Non-procedure zones, such as the Forever Young Zone, Sophie’s Place, and the Big Outside, are used for music and play therapy as well as for respite and relaxation.
