Start Date: June/July (On-going need)
Licensure: Must have active PA licensure
Required Certifications: PALS,ACLS,BLS,NRP, Active state DEA or transfer a DEA from another state
Minimum Experience:
Board Status: Board Certified or Board Eligible
Credentialing: 30-60 days
Coverage Need:
- 10-15 shifts per month (On-going)
- Full-time position
- Out-patient with limited in-patient
Schedule:
- Mon to Fri (8:30am-4:30pm)
- Weeknight Call Mon-Fri (4:30pm-8am)(1:2 Rotation)
- 24hr weekend call (1:3 Rotation)
- Weekend call mostly by phone (not often coming in at night)
Coverage Setting:
- Out-patient with limited In-patient
- EMR: EPIC
- Two very busy (hospital-owned) establish practice sites
- Level I nursery (230-250 births/year)
- No NICU but just instituted telemedicine for Neonatology on the floors with Children’s in Pittsburgh
Job Details:
- Daily rounding for the nursery when on call
- In house rounding: (all patients, both practices) usually 1-2 babies in nursery
- Rarely have in-patient rounding on sick children
- Can split time between two sites (both 20 minutes from hospital)
- Schedule can be discussed and may change from time to time
- Expect to have to go into ER or nursery once a week for an emergency or admission, but it may not happen
- Generally round in hospital in am, then go to clinic
- Can’t take call remotely (must be onsite to respond to ED or emergent c-sections within 30 minutes)
- Higher level PEDS transferred
- Takes 5 days per week of clinical hours to get to 36 clinical hours
- Provider will work at alternate site twice a week
- OB’s support with circumcisions
Census: 15-18 patients / day
Compensation for this opportunity is highly competitive at $120/hr for clinic and night call, with $1200 for 24/hr weekend call.
