A busy pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine practice in Florida is looking to hire a pediatric pulmonologist to work in its Florida location (Port St Lucie / West Palm Beach area). This position is the ideal position for a pediatric pulmonologist who loves clinical practice and wants to work in a non-affiliated private pediatric pulmonary entity, The practice is looking for individuals with a strong work ethic for this position. The emphasis is on an individual with a desire to work mainly in the outpatient clinical setting.
The company maintains a full service large pediatric pulmonary and sleep medicine practice with over 60,000 patient appointments a year. The practice currently has 12 pediatric Pulmonologists and 9 nurse practitioners. The practice has providers certified in pulmonary medicine and in sleep medicine both by the American Board of Sleep Medicine and the American Board of Pediatrics in addition to providers certified in behavioral sleep medicine. Not all the pulmonologists are certified in Sleep Medicine, and it is not a prerequisite for the job.
The company provides full pulmonary function testing including impulse oscillometry at all its locations as well as sleep studies, allergy testing and management of the high-risk preterm patients. The practice has multiple complete pulmonary function suites capable of performing all types of pulmonary function testing as well as multiple state of the art pediatric sleep laboratories.
The company maintains hospital privilege relationships that allow its staff to provide consultations, flexible bronchoscopy as well as other procedures within the local hospital systems.

The said individual will have the opportunity to be exposed to a wide range of pediatric pulmonology as well as to pediatric sleep medicine and pediatric allergy conditions.
The extent of involvement with sleep medicine will depend on training and experience in sleep medicine but could vary from management of sleep disordered breathing to management of true sleep disorders such as narcolepsy. A lack of experience in sleep medicine is not a negative in applying for this position.

The said individual will be working mainly in out-patient settings with access to a full range of diagnostic tools within the clinic such as Complete PFT capability with the addition of impulse oscillometry, pediatric sleep lab services with sleep rooms on site, Allergy testing and immunotherapy services. Ventilator management is typically done in the outpatient setting with the assistance of the sleep lab facilities. Bronchoscopies are done in the local children’s hospital as well as all admissions.
There are opportunities for clinical research in the practice as the company is involved in both pediatric pulmonary and sleep research. Also teaching appointments within the hospitals and residency programs are options but not requirements. Providers will be expected to provide call coverage as part of a team of physicians within the system.
