Findlay, Ohio, Pediatrics Hospitalist Job
Clinical Role:
Responsible for Level IIB Special Care Nursery
Required to round on pediatric inpatients, well babies, and special care nursery
Perform procedures including circumcisions, frenotomy, lumbar puncture, intubation, and UVC placement
Manage infants born at 32 weeks and above, including CPAP, surfactant, and ventilator care
Average of 1,000 deliveries per year
Average daily census: 12 patients, including 2 pediatric inpatients, 8 well newborns, and 4 special care
Emergency department consults and limited outpatient medical consults
Provide newborn care and attend high-risk deliveries
Six 24-hour shifts per 28-day block
48-hour shifts from 8 am Saturday to 8 am Monday
All call is in-house with access to a call room
Average number of patients per day: 8-10.
Types of cases include well babies, low-acuity pediatric patients (reactive airway, RSV, dehydration), special care for 32 weeks and up, and ER consults
Preference for candidates with an Ohio license
Must be NRP and PALS certified
Preference for candidates trained in circumcision and frenotomy
Support staff includes floor nurses and a pediatric educator
Sole provider on duty
Nationwide Children’s Hospital collaborative partnership with access to pediatric specialists, research, and clinical trials.
Local administration and decision-making with invested leadership seeking input
Will not accept candidates with lapsed Board Certification who need to obtain it again
This is a permanent position that may require residency within the immediate local area. Relocation may be required. To be discussed at interview
Must be BC/BE, with eligibility within 5 years post-training and certification within 3 years of eligibility
