Since 1950, Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital has delivered high-quality health care to the people of Georgetown and surrounding counties. The 131-bed hospital is certified by The Joint Commission as an advanced primary stroke center.

About our opportunity:

  • 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Clinical diagnostic service work in general pathology primarily 'bread and butter' specimens in a community practice setting, serving two hospitals in coastal South Carolina
  • AP/CP Board certified/board eligible
  • Occasional frozen sections and cytology adequacy checks
  • No grossing (occasional oversight of grossing tech)
  • Rare after-hours call (divided amongst a minimum of 3 pathologists
  • Willingness to engage clinicians and surgeons, as well as to provide guidance to AP staff members
  • Examines and interprets prepared tissue sections and body fluids and secretions by using
  • a variety of microscope techniques, including light microscopy, electron microscopy and
  • fluorescence microscopy.
  • Diagnosis, from body tissue, fluids, secretions or other specimens the presence and stage
  • of disease or other abnormalities, utilizing laboratory techniques and dictates findings.
  • Identifies the etiology, pathogenesis, morphological change, and clinical significance of diseases.
