We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Locums Pathology Physician to provide temporary coverage in Dixon, IL, for PTO during the specified dates. The role will involve a variety of responsibilities, including the sign-out of pathology cases, performing grossing on surgical specimens, and providing clinician support. The pathologist will be required to be available for night call and possible 24-hour call coverage. The Pathology Physician will be responsible for reviewing and signing out pathology cases to ensure accurate and timely diagnoses. They will perform grossing on surgical specimens with the assistance of two histotechs, who will help with grossing small biopsies, preparing slides, and conducting special stains. The physician will also provide clinician support by answering phone calls regarding pathology-related questions, review and interpret peripheral blood smears as needed, and address blood bank issues, including transfusion reactions. Additionally, the physician will perform cellular adequacy checks for Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) and CT-guided biopsies, and be available for night call coverage, responding to urgent cases as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pathology.
  • Must be licensed to practice in Illinois.
  • ACLS, DEA required.
