Pathologist
MONONGAHELA, PENNSYLVANIA (USA). Penn Highlands Healthcare in PA has an opportunity for a pathologist to join our team at Penn Highlands Mon Valley.

Penn Highlands Mon Valley – 15 miles SW of Pittsburgh
Practice Details:
- 5000 surgical pathology specimens
- 1000 non-GYN cytology & 2800 GYN Pap smears
- Two full time cytotechnologists pre-screening all the cytology specimens and independently sign out the bulk of the Pap smears
- Three full time histotechnologists who gross most biopsy cases and some other small specimens (tonsils, fallopian tubes, vasectomies). The rest of the grossing is done by pathologists
- Read for a small critical access hospital
- Work with one other full time pathologist, splitting the clinical and call duties equally
- Evaluation of peripheral blood smears as needed
- Serum and urine protein electrophoresis and immunofixation (SPEP/SPIF) interpretation (run twice a week)
- Evaluation of transfusion reactions as needed
- Interpretation of FISH panels on bone marrows, peripheral blood and solid tumors (the technical component is performed at a reference)
