Summary:
The Pathologist will diagnose the presence and stage of diseases by analyzing patient specimens using advanced laboratory techniques. This role involves evaluating tissue and fluid samples, generating detailed pathology reports, consulting with medical teams, and contributing to advancements in diagnostic methodologies. The Pathologist will manage laboratory operations, guide staff, and maintain the highest standards in diagnostic pathology.

Job Responsibilities
• Diagnostic Analysis:
o Examine microscopic samples to identify diseases and abnormalities.
o Diagnose conditions using methods such as gross pathology, histology, cytology, cytopathology, clinical chemistry, immunology, flow cytometry, and molecular biology.
o Identify the etiology, pathogenesis, morphological changes, and clinical significance of diseases.
• Reporting and Communication:
o Prepare detailed pathology reports summarizing analyses, results, and conclusions.
o Communicate findings to surgeons, physicians, and other medical professionals.
o Provide consultative support on test ordering, interpretation, and treatment recommendations.
• Continuous Learning and Innovation:
o Stay updated on pathology advancements through literature review, professional networking, and participation in conferences.
o Engage in research to improve testing methods and explore innovative treatments for diseases.
• Laboratory Leadership:
o Supervise and guide pathology staff, residents, and visiting pathologists.
o Oversee laboratory operations to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
o Educate medical professionals in laboratory sciences, including medical technology, cytotechnology, and histotechnology.
• Operational Insight:
o Analyze laboratory findings and case investigation reports for accuracy and reliability.
o Monitor laboratory workflows, ensuring timely turnaround for sample processing and reporting.
o Address volume fluctuations, such as the ebb and flow in Heme NGS and bone marrow analyses, and adapt operations to seasonal trends, including holiday slowdowns.
o Turnaround times are measured from case accession to sign-out, factoring in shipping delays from Phoenix and Alpharetta to El Monte, CA.
Qualifications
• MD degree and board certification in Pathology.
• At least 5 years of experience in diagnostic pathology, including expertise in:
o Hematopathology practice (e.g., flow cytometry, bone marrow interpretation).
o Clinical and molecular hematopathology.
o Complex surgical pathology and solid tumor diagnostics.
• Proven ability to write detailed pathology reports and suggest treatment options.
• Proficiency in performing specimen analyses, including liquid biopsy techniques, with a focus on accuracy and innovation.
• Research experience in improving identification methods and treatment approaches.
