NP/PA Pain Management opening in Carson City, NV
- Full-time, permanent position
Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) provides patient care in accordance to the medical standards to their specific specialty. The Advanced Practice Clinician provides collaborative care within the community by navigating patients through the healthcare system. As a provider, and in collaboration with physician, Advanced Practice Clinician is seen as a leader within the team structure established in the clinic setting.
Responsibilities:
Takes medical histories and performs physical examinations, utilizing diagnostic techniques.
Evaluates physical signs, symptoms and medical history to assess patients physical condition. Documents patient history and physical examination information clearly and concisely for physician review.
Orders appropriate laboratory and radiology tests, prescribes pharmaceuticals, and provides treatment options to patients using best judgement of medical decision-making.
Performs minor surgical procedures such as incising and draining superficial abscesses and removal of foreign bodies.
Analyze the results of ordered tests and provide treatments for follow-up care as needed.
Initiates and facilitates patient referrals to other physicians, clinics and health care facilities, using clinic/ hospital procedures and completes appropriate paperwork.
Ensures all medical documentation, orders and prescriptions must go through the electronic health record (EHR).
Complete documentation and sign off on patient charts within two business days of the time of service.
Respond to patient portal messages within two business days, if applicable to the department.
Participation in meetings during non-patient contact hours as requested by administration.
Responsible for finding coverage for working personal in-basket in the EHR when on leave, if applicable to the department.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Graduate from accredited school as approved by the Nevada State Board of Nursing for Advanced Practitioner of Nursing (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) program accredited by Accreditation Review - Commission on Education for Physician Assistants (ARC-PA).
- American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) recognized board certification or National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification.
- Active and unrestricted Advanced Practitioner of Nursing (APN) or Physician Assistant (PA) licensure in the State of Nevada.
- Possess a DEA licensure and Nevada controlled substance license.
- Medical Staff privileges at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center.
Preferred:
- Previous professional experience as an APRN or a PA.
- Clinic experience.
