Schedule

• Monday through Friday
  • 7am - 5pm clinic or OR depending on day
• May include regional OR/Clinic coverage
  • Regional: phone consultation, rare to go to other facility
• Call: One 5pm-7am overnight call per week of duty

Clinical Details

• Patient Population Mix: More peds & adolescent due to tonsillectomies and adenoidectomies. However, facility sees all patient population
• Average Number of Cases per day: 20-25 patients in clinic
• Elective surgical volume mainly tonsillectomies, adenoidectomies and ear tubes
• Bread and butter ENT
• Number of beds: 453
• Level 1 Trauma Center

Requirements

• Board Certified - Preferred
  • or Truly Board Eligible in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery
• Fellowship in Head/Neck Surgical Oncology or Rhinology/Sinus - Preferred
• Active IL License or already possess the IMLC certification with participating compact state
• BLS Certification
• Clean and easy to credential - Highly Preferred

Call

• Backup to APPs during day and overnight call when on service
• APPs in the department take first call, so technically locums/surgeons are back up call
• No facial trauma call
• Call burden is typically not substantial 1
• -2 consults per day on weekends, rare operative cases on weekends and nights

Support Staff

• APPs support inpatient list during day
• RNs and Medical Assistants in office
• Full audiology support services
• Patient Advisory RNs answer telephone calls from patients at night

EMR

• EPIC
