Position Summary
Pilots, aircrew and special-duty operators are exposed to extreme environments in air, space, and battle. As an Air Force Flight Surgeon, you will serve as the primary care physician for these extraordinary Airmen. You will also lead a dedicated team of specialized experts to develop, manage and implement preventive practices to keep our Airmen flying.

Qualifications
Serve as an active-duty Air Force officer in the Medical Corps. To be considered, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Completion of a U.S. residency at a fully accredited residency program with subsequent board certification in that primary specialty
  • Board certification must be current and in a primary care specialty such as family, emergency, pediatrics, internal medicine or by the ABPM, and must show proof of primary care privileges for the 12 months directly preceding commissioning.
  • Completion of a flight physical (USAF Flying Class II)
  • Completion of the Aerospace Medicine Primary (AMP) course (~nine weeks)
  • Completion of eight-week Officer Training School
  • Must be a U.S. citizen between the ages of 18 and 47
  • Must be willing to relocate
