JOB OVERVIEW

• Clinical Shift Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM, with possible late afternoon add-ons; potential weekend rounding and patient call
• On-Call Shift Schedule: 6 days per week unless all 7 are requested
• Call Type: Rotating day coverage for ED trauma cases, possible weekend patient/floor call and rounding
PATIENT INFORMATION
• Patient Demographics: General orthopedic patients, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric cases
• Patient Volume/Census: 3-5 cases per day in OR, 20-25 patients per day in clinic
• Admissions: Yes
• Rounding: Possible weekend rounding
• Case Mix: Orthopedic trauma, total knee and hip arthroplasty, general orthopedic procedures, hand injuries, pediatric fractures
FACILITY INFORMATION
• Trauma Level: Level 3 Trauma Center
• EMR System: Epic
• Specialty Backup Available: Hand surgeon available for definitive fixation
• Support Staff Available: Mid-levels present, but locum is not responsible for supervision
• Reason for Coverage: Coverage gaps requiring immediate locum support

REQUIRED PROCEDURES
• Fracture care & orthopedic trauma
• Elective total joint replacements (hip and knee arthroplasty)
• Closed reductions for pediatric cases
• Hand trauma stabilization, including evaluation for compartment syndrome and flexor tenosynovitis
• Hip fracture management (subtrochanteric, intertrochanteric, hemiarthroplasty)
• Application of spanning external fixators for ankle, pilon, and plateau fractures
• Open fracture debridement and stabilization
• Nonoperative management of acetabular and pelvic fractures
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Licenses: Active applicable state license
• Certifications: Not specified
• Experience: Fellowship in trauma or joints preferred but not required
• Other Qualifications: Must be comfortable managing orthopedic/hand trauma and pediatric cases
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide orthopedic trauma and elective joint replacement procedures
• Perform surgical interventions for fractures and trauma cases
• Conduct inpatient rounding and outpatient clinical assessments
• Manage emergency orthopedic cases in a Level 3 Trauma Center setting
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including mid-level providers and specialty consultants
• Utilize Epic EMR for documentation and patient management
• Participate in rotating call schedule for ED trauma cases and inpatient needs
