Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
·Provide comprehensive care for patients with hand, wrist, and upper extremity conditions, including trauma, degenerative diseases, congenital abnormalities, and nerve injuries.
·Perform a variety of surgical procedures, including fracture fixation, tendon and nerve repairs, arthroscopy, and microsurgery.
·Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including plastic surgeons, physical therapists, and occupational therapists, to deliver integrated patient care.
·Teach and mentor Orthopaedic Surgery residents, and medical students through clinical instruction, surgical training, and lectures.
·Participate in academic and research activities, with opportunities to engage in clinical trials, publish peer-reviewed articles, and contribute to advancements in hand surgery.
·Contribute to departmental initiatives, including quality improvement, patient safety, and educational program development.
·Participate in the on-call rotation, providing emergency hand and upper extremity surgical coverage.
Qualifications:
·MD or equivalent degree from an accredited medical school.
·Board certification or eligibility (or equivalent) in Orthopaedic Surgery.
·Fellowship training in Orthopaedic Hand surgery.
·Licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana before date of hire
·Strong clinical expertise in the full spectrum of hand surgery, including microsurgery and complex reconstructions.
·Commitment to academic medicine, including teaching, research, and program development.
