**Dentist opening in Kansas** Located in Iola, KS 105 miles from Kansas City This position is part of the dental team. This position is responsible for delivering clinical dental services and preventive dental care in both clinic and outreach settings. This position provides preventive and diagnostic services, treatment, patient education and referral care. Participates in quality improvement initiatives as assigned by the Chief Clinical Officer. ESSENTIAL DUTIES - Provides complete, comprehensive outpatient care for dental/oral conditions to include oral examination and treatment of conditions, including follow-up of problems detected. Instructs assigned dental assistants. - Assists Director of Dental Services and/or Chief Clinical Officer with competencies and clinical evaluation of clinical staff. - Responsible to make appropriate referrals to internal disciplines and/or external resources/agencies for additional services required. - Prescribes medications for patients for treatment of conditions, as indicated. - Provides dental consultation to other providers as needed. - Responsible for accurate, timely, and clear medical record documentation. - Provide appropriate follow-up with dental support staff to include telephone/written correspondence (e.g. inform patients of test results). - Assures integration of patient education into all treatment phases. - Participates in dental outreach activities as assigned. - Provides clear written and oral communication to patients/guardians and employees. - Participates in an on-call system for after-hours care. - Ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of a potential action. - Assures that the dental policies are current and accurate. - Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS - Full licensure to practice dentistry in the State of Kansas. - Graduation from an accredited school of dentistry. - Completion of an accredited general practice residency program, preferred. - A strong community/public health orientation, preferred. - Commitment to serving the underserved. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES - Social and cultural sensitivity appropriate to ethnically and economically diverse patient-and employee-base - Demonstrate knowledge of the rationale of appropriate patient care. - Communicates through appropriate channels. Use proper chain of command for patient complaints. - Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively. - Must be computer literate and must be proficient with the organizations electronic health record. - Must be able to maintain good inter-personal relationship with co-workers and other members of the health care team and the organization. - Provide customer service in accordance to the organizations mission. - Be courteous and respectful when interacting with patients and family members. - Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance to organizations policy and procedure and HIPAA requirements.
