One of our prestigious clients is seeking an experienced Optometrist to join its team of professionals. Reporting to the Medical Director and Assistant Medical Director, the Optometrist will be responsible for, but not limited to:

Job Responsibilities

Clinical Duties:

Examine eyes using observation, instruments, and pharmaceutical agents to determine visual acuity, perception, focus, and coordination, and to diagnose diseases and abnormalities such as glaucoma or color blindness.

Communicate with patients to obtain a detailed patient history.

Examine the eyes of patients aged 2 and older to detect signs of injury, disease, abnormality, or vision defects.

Identify signs and symptoms of general health conditions (e.g., diabetes).

Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries, such as cataract and laser vision correction.

Analyze results and develop a treatment plan.

Prescribe, supply, fit, and adjust eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids.

Offer advice for patients choosing frames and lenses.

Prescribe therapeutic procedures to correct or conserve vision.

Prescribe medications to treat eye diseases as state laws permit.

Educate and counsel patients on visual hygiene, lighting arrangements, and safety factors.

Offer advice and reassurance about vision-related matters.

Consult with and refer patients to an ophthalmologist or other healthcare practitioners if additional medical treatment is necessary.

Liaise with other medical practitioners and sometimes share the care of patients with chronic ophthalmic conditions.

Generate reports for patients as needed, e.g., for driver's license applications.

Administrative Duties:

Greet patients and update and file patients' medical records.

Qualifications

Required Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:

Doctorate in Optometry from an accredited institution.

Must be licensed in NY.

1-3 years of experience preferred, but new grads are welcome to apply.

Completion of Infection Control training as required by NY state.

Updated Mandated Reporter Training.

Additional Requirement:

HIPAA Compliance Required.

Working Hours

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Full-Time or Part-Time exempt position.

Part-Time: 2-3 days per week, including Saturday (9:00 AM - 2:00 PM).

Flexible hours Monday through Friday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM or 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM on Wednesdays.

Skills

Required Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:

Doctorate in Optometry from an accredited institution.

Must be licensed in NY.

1-3 years of experience preferred, but new grads are welcome to apply.

Updated Mandated Reporter Training.
